Pubs & Inns in the Lake District

The Lake District does pubs well. Walkers, dogs, muddy boots. The Kirkstile Inn, The Drunken Duck, The Mortal Man. Proper food, local ales, and the kind of atmosphere that makes you want to stay.

Keswick has a good run of pubs. Ambleside and Grasmere too. The smaller villages often have one standout. Worth booking at weekends in summer.

Worth knowing: many pubs stop serving food by 9pm. If you're coming off the fells late, call ahead. Dog-friendly is the norm, but always check if you're unsure.
